Signature Session Park & Interview At MK
We return with another awesome Signature sessions park. Laura Berry, one of our talented sponsored riders has designed this custom park for you all to enjoy... so enjoy! She even gave us a little interview to explain all!
Also, just to mention, this park is for this week's Thursday and Friday freestyle nights and Saturday's Parkstrife event. For details check here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=241411029241934&ref=ts
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do.
I started riding at MK when I was about 13 or 14 and since then, have done 5 seasons [abroad].
For the past couple of years I have been living in Morzine year round. I've been back for a couple of months and it's been cool to get back into riding indoor again like old times. I'm pretty stoked to have been asked to do a park for the Signature Sessions and hope it works out well.
Did you want to take us through the park you’ve created?
So, at the top of the park I've got a side on rail or gas pipe; just something easy to get the run started.
Then second set of features is going to be a flat bar with a gap on and drop off (or the down-flat-down), potentially set up as a flat-up-flat. I wanted something tech to ride and have put in the flat bar for people to spin on and off without the huck you normally need.
Third in line I have two kickers set up next to each other. One will have a bonk, one will be a normal jump but you'll also be able to transfer between the two with a little channel.
At the bottom there's a big mound of snow, and on one side, a big pole jam/up gas pipe so you can get a lot of air off the end, or land in the quater pipe shaped into the side. On the other side of the mound will be a big gap into a down bar.
Do you think your style of riding influenced your choice of park features?
Yeah! When I ride I like to hit jumps and features that give a lot of air-time.
I've never been a skater or anything so I've always gone for big stuff that means you have time in the air on a board. I'm hoping the set up will flow well so there isn't much stopping and starting as I like to do one run with a few features in a fluid movement.
What can we expect to see you doing in the coming months?
I will be shooting some photos and doing some filming. I'm then going back to Morzine and intend to do a few comps and magazine trips.
I'll also be filming some short films/podcasts for the guys at Westbeach throughout the season.
